natural 'Glanrafon' Welsh Slate sharpening stone with part of it's original label remaining. The remnants of the label are very fragile but the name 'Glanrafon' can still be seen (see photos).
Glanrafon is the name of a quarry at Betws Garmon in the Rhyd-Ddu area of Snowdonia. It was active from the 1870's until around 1915. The stone itself is a blueish green with black veins and markings throughout. It measures 8 5/8" x 2" x 1 1/8". Both ends of the working surface taper off slightly for about the last 1/4", and there is a small natural fissure on one side of the stone close to the top,(see photos), but this does affect the working surface, which is flat and is very fine and smooth.

Несколько напоминает камешек, что решили называть с коллегами "Fiddish river stone",но чуть другой
